Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric ophthalmologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology

Duties & Responsibilities
--- Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Ophthalmology for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
--- Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
--- Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
--- Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
--- Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Ophthalmology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
--- To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
--- To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children's Hospital of Illinois.
--- Direct and conduct his/her own research in Pediatric Ophthalmology
--- Provide care for patients with Ophthalmologic diseases admitted to Children's Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
--- Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
--- Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.
Minimum Qualifications
--- MD/DO or compatible degree international medical degree
--- 3 years ophthalmology residency and 1-year AAPOS approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship.
--- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
--- Eligible for licensure in Illinois
--- Clinical experience in the field of pediatric ophthalmology
--- Experience in teaching medical students and residents in the area of pediatric ophthalmology.
Preferred Qualifications
--- Proven leadership credentials and track record of developing clinical programs in pediatric ophthalmology
--- Strong background in clinic/translation research

UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medical schools in the country.
