The University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOMP) seeks a
talented and experienced research administrator for the role of
Assistant Director of Research Services.

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Research Services is a leadership role at
the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria and will work
to increase research collaboration opportunities for faculty and
learners across campus. This position will serve as a primary
resource to guide and coordinate research efforts across
campus.
Duties & Responsibilities
Administrative
Participate in collaborative translational research program with
faculty and key principal investigators
Maintain scholarly productivity and work towards national
recognition as measured by impact of publications, presentations at
regional and national meetings, invitations to speak at peer
institutions and participation in grant review panels.
Mentor postdoctoral fellows, medical students, summer undergraduate
students, laboratory technicians, and visiting researchers.
Seek opportunities to partner with faculty in the department
towards development of collaborative grant applications, as well as
with colleagues across departments and campuses to facilitate
establishment of competitive interdisciplinary translational
research
Serve in committees as advised by the Head of the Department
Contribute to the education mission of our medical school as
requested and advised by the Head of the Department
Actively participate and present at the departmental seminar series
and the research forum
Ensure compliance with the Responsible Conduct of Research norms
and regulations and in this way properly preserve and protect data
generated and integrity of research
Seek opportunities to actively contribute to inclusive excellence
at UICOMP
Student Research
Create and maintain a database of research projects involving
students
Meet with Students and pair them with mentors for research
projects
In collaboration with other faculty, develop research education
sessions for students
Approve applications for student travel awards and their
submissions for reimbursement\
Work with Director of Research Services to provide students with
feedback on poster drafts and manuscript drafts
Build relationships with the Chicago campus to help find mentors
for research projects in areas where we don't have faculty
Participate and present at UICOMP's Annual Research Day and the COM
Research Forum.
Grant Management
Develop budgets for faculty applying to local, state, and federal
opportunities
Develop budget justifications to accompany budgets in line with
sponsor's guidelines
Submit proposals internally for approval meeting internal and
external deadlines
Assist faculty with uploading of documents into sponsor's systems
as requested
Assist applicants in drafting of facilities and resources, human
subjects, animal welfare, data management, and other administrative
documents
For applications involving multiple institutions, work with other
grant administrators on scope of work, budgets, and approvals
Proof applications as requested
Find funding opportunities and send to faculty
Build relationships with Chicago to facilitate collaboration and/or
mentorship on funding applications.
Minimum Qualifications
MD or PhD
Experience in grant management
5-7 years of research experience
