Overview
To provide high quality professional nursing care as a member of
the health care team, to the patient population served by the
office. To assist in the support and education of resident
physicians as a member of the health care team in the delivery of
family medicine.
Qualifications
Certifications: Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) -
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
(IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart
Association (AHA), Education: Bachelor's Degree: Nursing, Work

Responsibilities
Implements departmental nursing procedures and demonstrates nursing
knowledge and skills by providing high quality comprehensive
patient care in an office setting, appropriate to the age and needs
of the patient served by the pretesting department.
- Coordinates and prioritizes patient care activities and flow of
patient data.
- Develops an individualized plan of care using a collaborative
approach with the patient/family and health care team.
- Completes required documentation as appropriate, including
patient chart and event reports.
- Utilizes effective communication with office staff, medical
providers, patients and their family members, as well as other
external customers to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Maintains working knowledge of established policies and
procedures within the organization as well as office specific
policies and procedures.
- Works independently, effectively and efficiently within
established guidelines.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in
evidence-based nursing practice.
- Demonstrates a practical problem-solving approach to patient
moving and handling issues (as applicable).
- Conducts appropriate assessments, observations and collection
of data as well as evaluates, records and reports symptoms and
patient's progress.
- Completes job responsibilities in a professional, timely
manner.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and its use.
Coordinates patient care activities and the flow of patient
information by effective communication with other office staff,
physicians, patients, families and a variety of health care
agencies and appropriate documentation to ensure continuity of
care.
- Demonstrates critical thinking in prioritizing patient
care.
- Analyzes clinical situations in a systematic way and acts to
obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected
outcomes or patient needs.
- Demonstrates ownership and persistence to ensure problem is
resolved in best way possible.
- Possesses ability to communicate effectively with providers,
staff and patients to assist in identifying and solving
problems.
- Advocates with physicians on patient's behalf when
necessary
- Assists with orientation of new staff, nursing and medical
students and residents.
- Conducts appropriate and timely documentation of patients
concerns, problems and/or symptoms in medical record.
- Identifies and utilizes team resources to solve identified
problems or needs
- Reviews medical records through office audit for complete and
thorough documentation by provider reflecting patient's
encounter.
- Chooses an appropriate and meaningful communication style when
interacting with others: gives and accepts constructive feedback
to/from peers. Provides patient education through application of
teaching-learning principles appropriate to the age and needs of
the patient population served by the office. To help problems and
to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Utilizes appropriate resources to instruct patient and
family.
- Takes cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors
into consideration when teaching patients about procedures,
illness, hospital experience, etc.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills of age appropriate care.
Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response, readiness
to learn and level of comprehension
- Assures information and data indicative of the patient's
learning capabilities.
- Interprets information relative to the age-specific needs of
the patients.
- Promotes effective communication by providing effective
learning techniques to patient and family members. Actively
participates in data collection, analysis, problem solving and
gives input on process improvements and patient satisfaction.
- Collaborates and integrates individual efforts with those of
the other health care team members.
- Works with interdisciplinary team in identifying opportunities
for improvement in patient care and patient/family
satisfaction
- Promotes a professional and congenial work environment.
- Contributes and/or oversees process for ordering pretesting
labs and pre-op orders.
- Conducts effective, efficient and timely telephone calls to
effectively navigate the care of the patient.
- Maintains a clean and safe therapeutic work environment by
applying policies and principles related to care of environment,
safety and infection control.
- Assists in quality improvement.
- Actively promotes and achieves customer satisfaction (patient,
family, departments, physicians)
- Participates in educational opportunities and meetings to
enhance job skills and increase knowledge.
- Assumes leadership role by acting as a clinical resource person
with the office setting.
- Coordinates, organizes and assesses the needs of patients and
staff.
- Implements changes in own clinical practice based on literature
and unit process improvement outcomes
- Provides support to the other members of the health care
team.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $29per hour - $49.88per
hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for
the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual
compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of
factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience,
qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and
